EP Equipment introduced the EFL series of electric forklifts to Europe four years ago, and set out to do more than bring a new product to market— it was the start of a bold project : replacing internal combustion (IC) forklifts with greener, electric alternatives. Built with the same chassis, strength, and reliability as diesel forklifts, the EFL series quickly proved that electrification didn’t mean compromise. Instead, it delivered powerful performance with far less environmental impact, lower operating costs, and significantly reduced noise levels. With its in-house lithium-ion battery technology and a commitment to sustainability, EP Equipment has been at the forefront of the IC-to-electric transformation. The EFL series showed that warehouses, factories, and logistics hubs could go electric without sacrificing performance. In 2024, EP took things one step further, introducing the EFXZ-301-H/E—a pioneering step forward in sustainability in the material handling industry. This model is part of EP’s remanufacturing initiative, which takes used IC forklifts and gives them a second, fully electric life.
Powering the Shift to Remanufactured Electric Forklifts with the EP EFXZ series.
This isn’t just a repair, it’s a comprehensive rebuild. The EFXZ series undergoes a complete disassembly, structural inspection, and remanufacturing of all core components. The original engine and fuel system are removed and replaced with EP’s own lithium-ion heart, and the chassis is shot-blasted and repainted, giving the forklifts a fresh look and long-lasting protection. Critical parts like the mast—sourced from EP’s reliable EFL2 series—are integrated to ensure durability and performance. Once reassembled, each truck is tested for load capacity, braking, endurance, and safety to meet the highest standards. The result is a forklift that looks, performs, and lasts like new—but with a much lower environmental footprint and a significantly lower cost of ownership.
A Greener Future with Every Lift
One of the most impressive aspects of this remanufacturing process is its impact. Replacing a 3-tonne IC forklift with an electric EFXZ model reduces annual carbon emissions by up to 6,900 kg—the equivalent of planting 400 trees. This transformation not only extends the lifecycle of industrial equipment but also helps businesses make real progress toward sustainability, at an affordable cost. This initiative is particularly in touch with the European market, where increasing cost of fossil fuels and environmental regulations are driving up the electric forklift market. This is especially true in the UK which is strongly encouraging greener initiatives to reduce carbon footprint in all industries. And this is where our partner Electrofit Industrial solutions (EIS) is operating, pushing for greener material handling practices in the UK and beyond.
Powered by our partners
The REPowered by EP line was born from the partnership between EP and Electrofit Industrial solutions to bring to the market a range of remanufactured forklifts based on EP’s EFXZ-301-H/E model that deliver modern performance with a significantly reduced environmental impact. During a recent visit to EP’s remanufacturing facility in China, Steve Noble, the face behind EIS observed the Ep refurbishing process in detail—from the disassembly of the used forklifts to the final assembly of the fully electric trucks. What stood out to him was the precision and depth of the transformation. The EFZX are not simply refurbished; they are rebuilt to perform like new, undergoing rigorous testing to ensure reliability, safety, and operational excellence. For EIS electric forklifts like the REPower by EP line help businesses stay ahead of tightening environmental regulations while reducing their carbon footprint. By extending the usable life of forklift trucks and replacing fossil fuel systems with clean lithium technology, EIS and EP Equipment provide an innovative, future-ready solution for today’s challenges.
Why Now is the Time to Make the Switch
For businesses still operating diesel or IC forklifts, the case for electric has never been stronger. Rising fuel prices, stricter emissions regulations, and growing pressure to reduce operating costs all point to one clear solution: going electric. Electric forklifts are no longer a niche alternative—they’re the smarter, more efficient standard. They reduce total cost of ownership, improve reliability with fewer moving parts, and eliminate the risk of compliance penalties tied to fossil fuel use. And thanks to EP Equipment’s remanufacturing initiative, switching to electric doesn’t require a brand-new investment. The EFXZ series, made available through partners like EIS, offers a practical, affordable path toward a greener future. EP Equipment’s remanufacturing story is about more than forklifts—it’s about rethinking how industries operate. By combining proven engineering with sustainable thinking, EP and its partners like Electrofit Industrial Solutions are helping to shape a new era of logistics. One where performance meets purpose, and every lift is a step toward a brighter, greener tomorrow.
